Regionals

To give more high school teams the chance to compete in the state competition, the top teams from the fall and spring challenges will be invited to participate in the regional semi-finals the week of March 25. 

State Championships

The State Championships for both the High School and Middle School divisions will be held on April 3.

National Personal Finance Challenge

The high school state champion team will represent Kansas at the National Personal Finance Challenge to be held May 19-20 at a location that has yet to be announced. The Kansas Council for Economic Education, thanks to its generous sponsors, will pay the round-trip travel expenses for the Kansas champion to attend the national challenge.

If you are new to the Kansas Personal Finance Challenge, welcome! You will need to select “Teacher Registration” from the menu and create your teacher profile. Once your profile is created, you will be able to log in and begin creating your teams.

If you are a returning teacher, welcome back! Your profile information is saved from your previous participation, and you can log in to begin creating your teams for this year’s challenge!

Teams of 3-4 students will have 35 minutes to complete a 30-question online exam covering the principles of personal finance; including money management, credit, investing and insurance. For more information on the financial literacy standards included in the Personal Finance Challenge, explore these resources:

Students earn 10 points for every correct response and 0 points for each incorrect answer. Every question must be answered to move on and students are not able to go back to previous questions.

Top High School and Middle School teams will be invited to the State Championship on April 3 at Wichita State University. Advancement to the National Personal Finance Challenge is limited to the High School Division. 

State winners qualify for the National Personal Finance Challenge, which will be held May 19-20 at a site to be determine.

Each of the four top-performing teams at the National Personal Finance Challenge will receive a banner, and cash prizes for each student member in the following amounts:

1st place: $2,000 | 2nd place: $1,000 | 3rd place: $500 | 4th place: $250
