The Rules

Students and teachers are required to abide by the following rules for a successful Challenge:

  • The exam must be proctored by the teacher/advisor.

  • Each student must take the test alone; meaning students cannot work as a group.

  • Students may not utilize any outside materials or testing aids (i.e. calculators) during their Challenge exam.

  • The teacher/advisor is not to help the students by guiding them or re-phrasing a question.

A team’s final score is determined by the sum of the top three individual scores of its members.

  • If the team consists of four students, the lowest score will not be counted.
  • Students are awarded 10 points for each correct answer.
  • The highest individual score possible is 300 while the highest team score possible is 900.

Once students have completed testing, teachers may log into their team profile account and obtain individual student and team scores.

Team Ranking and Results: once the Challenge has officially ended, teachers of the Top 3 teams will be contacted via e-mail by March 20, 2024. The Top 4 Teams will advance to the in-person New York State Finals on April 1, 2024 at TBD.

The first-place team from the New York State Finals will be contacted by the CEE team to confirm attendance at the National Finals in Cleveland, Ohio.
