Rules

Team Composition:

a. High School Students must currently be enrolled in grades 9-12.

b. High School students must be enrolled in a personal finance course (or other course or program that incorporates the six personal finance categories:  earning income & protecting and insuring, using credit & buying goods and services, and saving & financial investing) during the current school year.  These topics are covered in the Delaware Financial Literacy Standards for High School.

c. Teams shall be comprised of three (3) or four (4) members.

d. All members of a team must be from the same high school.

e. The sum of the highest three individual scores on each team make up the team score.

g. Teachers may reconstitute the student members of the online Challenge team when participating in the in-person Delaware Personal Finance Challenge Semi-Finals in April.  All semi-final and finals team members must, however, have competed in the online Challenge in either the Fall or Spring.

Student Eligibility:

a. Students must be currently enrolled in a Delaware high school.

b. Each team must be sponsored by a teacher from its school. A teacher may sponsor any number of teams in the online Challenge.  However, each teacher may only bring one team to the in-person semi-finals in April. 

c. High School students may participate if they are attending high school and taking a personal finance (or related) course that covers the six personal finance topics listed above.

d. High school students who have previously attended the in-person Delaware Personal Finance Challenge Semi-Finals are ineligible.
