The Rules

Team Composition:

a. There are two divisions: Middle School and High School.  Students must currently be enrolled in grades 6-8 or 9-12.

b. High School students must be enrolled in a personal finance course (or other course or program that incorporates the six personal finance topics:  earning income & protecting and insuring, using credit & buying goods and services, and saving & financial investing) during the current school year.

c. Middle School students must be enrolled in a course where the DE Financial Literacy Standards are incorporated. 

d. Teams shall be comprised of three (3) or four (4) members.

e. All members of a team must be from the same middle school or high school.

f. The sum of the highest three individual scores on each team make up the team score.

g. High School teachers may reconstitute the members of the online Challenge team when participating in the DE state finals.  All finals team members must, however, have competed in the online Challenge.

Student Eligibility:

a. Students must be currently enrolled in a Delaware middle school or high school .

b. Each team must be sponsored by a teacher from its school. A teacher may sponsor more than one team. 

c. High School Division: students may participate each year that they are attending high school and taking a personal finance (or related) course that covers the six personal finance topics. High school students who reached the Challenge Finals previously are ineligible.

d. Middle School Division: students may participate each year that they are taking a course that incorporates the DE Financial Literacy Standards.  Middle school students who placed first or second in previous years are ineligible for prizes.
